  • Day 2 Kathmandu to Lukla Flight, Trek to Phakding.

Early morning pick-up from your accommodation and flight from Tribhuvan Airport, Kathmandu, to Tenzing Hillary Airport, Lukla. Weather permitting, the 30-minute flight offers fabulous views of the Himalaya. After meeting with the porters who will take care of your luggage throughout the trek and lunch in Lukla, the trek begins with an easy half-day trail that drops about 200m in altitude to Phakding. Time permitting, pay a visit to a local monastery then overnight stay.

    • Place: Phakding
    • Altitude: 2,600m.
  • Day 3 Trek to Namche.

The trail follows the Dudh Koshi River to the village of Monjo, known as the Gateway to the Sagarmatha National Pak: the whole area is extremely rich in biodiversity. At Monjo, your guide will take care of the national park formalities. The track then passes through pine forests and crosses several suspension bridges, most notably the Hillary Suspension Bridge, named after the first person to summit Mount Everest. If the skies are clear, there is one fleeting view of Everest in the far distance as well. Time permitting, sightseeing and relaxation in the Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar before dinner.

    • Place: Namche
    • Altitude: 3,450m.
  • Day 4 Acclimatization in Namche.

Spend at least one day in Namche before making further advancement. It will help you a lot in proper acclimatization with the increasing altitude and greatly minimizes the risk of High Altitude Sickness. Explore Namche Bazaar. Enjoy the views of Thamserku Mountain, Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse. Namche is also popular as the capital land of legendary Sherpas. Khumjung and Khundeare nearby villages that are worth exploring.

    • Place: Namche
    • Altitude: 3,450m.
  • Day 5 Trek to Deboche.

Today’s trail is just the first which affords many breathtaking views: Mount Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Thamserku, and Ama Dablam. The day’s main challenge is the long descent to/ascent from Phungi Tanga: going slowly will give your body time to adjust. The trail emerges from the forest at Tengboche with its beautiful monastery: a short visit can be made here if time permits. The final 30 minutes or so goes gently downhill to the small settlement of Deboche for the overnight stay.

    • Place: Deboche
    • Altitude: 3,720m.
  • Day 6 Trek to Dingboche.

After leaving Deboche, the trail leads uphill to Pangboche (3,860m) and then continues past stupas and mani walls along the Imja Valley. Stay overnight at Dingboche, a settlement catering primarily for mountaineers and trekkers in the season.

    • Place: Dingboche
    • Altitude: 4,412m.
  • Day 7 Rest Day.

In the morning it is recommended that you participate in an organized hike up the slopes of Nangkar Tshang: apart from helping your body to adjust to the altitude, it will afford amazing views across to Ama Dablam, Tabuche Peak, and other mountains.

    • Place: Dingboche
    • Altitude: 4,412m.
  • Day 8 Trek to Lobuche.

After setting off from Dingboche, the trail skirts the valley along the hillside. After going through the little settlement of Dughla (aka Thokla) the track ascends to the windswept Dughla Pass (4,830m.) where there are moving memorials to those who lost their lives on Everest, including Doug Fischer, a little beyond. Walking further through the Khumbu glacier moraine leads to Lobuche and the overnight stop.

    • Place: Lobuche
    • Altitude: 4,940m.
  • Day 9 Trek to E.B.C, Back to Gorakshep.

Leaving Lobuche, the trail passes glacial moraines and goes up to Gorak Shep. After leaving the luggage at the guesthouse, trek past the Indian Army Mountaineers' Memorials and up to what for many is the climax of the trek: EBC itself! From here there are majestic views of Nuptse, Khumbuste, Pumori….but not Everest. Overnight in Gorak Shep.

    • Place: Everest Base Camp & Gorakshep
    • Altitude: 5,364m. & 5,164m.
  • Day 10 Trek to Kala Patar, Back to Pheriche.

The climb up to Kala Patthar is the most challenging component of the EBC Trek due to a combination several things: pre-dawn start to witness sunrise; the wind chill factor; high altitude; and low oxygen levels. But the reward makes it all worthwhile: stunning views of some of the highest, most impressive mountains on our planet, including Everest, Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse. After breakfast the return begins, going back down through Lobuche, Dughla and on to the picturesque little village of Pheriche for an overnight stay. Points of interest in Pheriche include stunning views both up and down the valley and the little Himalayan Rescue Association Clinic, dubbed ‘the highest hospital in the world.’ Basic care and medication are available here in case of need as well as an interesting daily talk (3 pm) on AMS.

    • Place: Kala Patar & Pheriche
    • Altitude: 5,545m. & 4,250m.
  • Day 11 Trek to Phortse.

Today’s trek is quite leisurely, going over the Pheriche-la (4,278m) and on to Phortse, with views of Cholatse (6,335m) and Tabuche (aka Tawache), 6,495m from Phortse. The small monastery at Phortse can also be visited. Overnight in Phortse.

    • Place: Phortse
    • Altitude: 3,810m.
  • Day 12 Trek to Namche.

From Phortse the trail drops down to Phungi Thanga, with its cluster of small teahouses by the Dudh Koshi River. After this comes the final challenge of the trek: the steep climb back up to Sanasa and the hillside trail on to Namche Bazaar.

    • Place: Namche
    • Altitude: 2,835m.
  • Day 13 Trek to Lukla.

The final day of the trek retraces the trail back from Namche Bazaar to Lukla via Monjo, which marks the end of the Sagarmatha National Park, and Phakding. Rocks inscribed with the Om Mani Padme Hom mantra, stupas and prayer wheels are scattered along the route. Overnight in Lukla.

    • Place: Lukla
    • Altitude: 2,800m.
  • Day 14 Fly back to Kathmandu.
