Located at the far western border of Nepal, the Api Saipal base Camp Trek takes us deep into the Mahakali Valley through off-beaten paths. Joining the views of Api Himal (7,132m) on the trek are a host of magnificent Himalayan ranges of Sunpani and Sumjum Himal ranges. Tibetan and ethnic Thakuri communities inhabit the region which offers a marvelous insight into their culture, heritage, and lifestyle. All in all, the journey is a blend of natural glory and cultural prosperity of far western Nepal.
Heading out of Kathmandu, we fly to the far-western town of Nepalgunj. The Terai city bordering India offers a complete contrast in landscapes and culture. Reaching Simikot on another flight the next day, we begin our trek heading towards Dharapuri for our first night on the trail. From Dharapuri, the trek heads west diverting away from the trail to Limi Valley. Making our way through the vibrant Bhotia and Thakuri hamlets of Kermi and Yalbang, the trail switches south making our way to Chala. The settlements on the trek showcase the authenticity in their culture and lifestyle adding more excitement to the journey. En route to Chala, we confront the rugged Himalayan trail as we trek along the Puiyan River. Entering the Karang Khola Valley, the journey reaches the northern Saipal Base Camp. Taking a day off at the base camp, we get to enjoy the stunning landscapes surrounded by the Himalayas before heading back to Karang Khola. The journey begins its descending run as we enter the lush green forests making our way through the hamlets of Yalbang and Dharapuri. Trekking back to Simikot, we board the flight back to Nepalgunj before heading towards Kathmandu ending our journey.
