Upper Mustang Trek.

  • Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu.

    When you land at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will go through custom and visa formalities. As you exit from the Arrival Hall, you will find our representative waiting for you with a placard in his hand. Look for your name in a placard. After receiving you, he will transfer you to the three-star category hotel. Get refreshed. Later, you will get a briefing regarding the trip. Explore the surroundings. Have a comfortable stay.

  • Day 2 Sightseeing in Kathmandu, Trek preparation.

    After breakfast, you will join for guided Kathmandu City Tour. Out of 10 UNESCO cultural sites in Nepal, 4 of them exist in Kathmandu alone making it the historical city. We will start the tour by visiting the Pashupatinath Complex which is the most significant Hindu Temple in Nepal. Non- Hindus are not allowed access in the main temple premises but you can still observe cremation ceremony at the bank of Bagmati River. You will also visit Bouddhanath which was listed in the world heritage site in 1979 A.D. This is also known as mini Tibet in Kathmandu. Next stop will be at Swoyambhunath which is the oldest Buddhist Stupa located at the top of the hill. Swoyambhunath is the oldest stupa that dates 2500 years back. Drive further to Kathmandu Durbar Square- the ancient Royal Palace. Hanumandhoka Museum, Kasthamandap Temple, KalBhairav Statue and House of Living Goddess are places of interest. Return to hotel for a comfortable stay. In the afternoon, you can shop for any trekking equipment that you require.

  • Day 3 Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara.

    Pokhara is separated from Kathmandu by 200km distance. We will follow Prithvi Highway all the way to Pokhara. It takes almost 5hours to reach Pokhara from Kathmandu by private vehicle. The path is scenic with views of green hills, mountains, and rivers. Pokhara is a clean and green city. In the evening, we will visit Phewa Lake where you can enjoy boating before returning back to the hotel.

  • Day 4 Pokhara to Jomsom Flight, Trek to Kagbeni.

    After breakfast, we will reach Pokhara Airport. An early morning flight from Pokhara will take us to Jomsom. The flight is scenic with views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Mountain Range. We will land at the small airstrip located above Kali Gandaki River valley. After arranging baggage, we will begin Upper Mustang Trek. The trail continues along the right shore of Kali Gandaki River. We will pass through Eklebhatti and head north-west to Kagbeni. Stay overnight in Kagbeni.

  • Day 5 Trek to Chele.

    Kagbeni is known as a gateway to Upper Mustang. Mustang Trekking permit will be checked at Kagbeni. After completing official formalities, we will walk Kaligandaki upstream and head towards Tangbe village. Enjoy the views of whitewashed houses as you pass along buckwheat fields and apple orchards all the way to Chhusang. We need to cross the river before reaching Chele. Stay overnight at Chele.

  • Day 6 Trek to Syangboche.

    Leaving Chele, we will take a brief walk to the base of Taklam La Pass. We will climb slowly to the top of Taklam La Pass (3,624m) which greets us with views of Tilicho Peak. We can also have a close-up view of Damodar Danda hill. The trail descends from the top to Samar village. We will climb up from Samar village to another ridge from where we will descend to the river. Walking further, we will pass along Ramching Cave to Syangbochewhere we will stay overnight.

  • Day 7 Trek to Ghami.

    LeavingSyangboche, we will climb through a series of ups and downs to Ghami. We will climb to the top of the small ridge which greets us with the view of LoManthang. We will continue to walk to Ghami. Stay overnight at Ghami.

    • Altitude: 3,520m.
  • Day 8 Trek to Tsarang.

    We will climb uphill from Ghami. The route stretchesunderneathTama Gung village to Nyi La Pass. Nyi La serves as the southern border for LoManthang city. Lowering down from Nyi La, we will reach the branched path. Crossing the steel bridge over Tangmarchu River, we will make it to Tsarang. Visit Red Gompa before staying at Tsarang.

    • Altitude: 3,500m.
  • Day 9 Trek to Lo Manthang.

    Lo Manthang is the ultimate destination in Upper Mustang. We will enjoy the views of Nilgiri Peak, Tilicho Peak and Annapurna I Mountain as we lower down to Charang Chu Canyon. We will climb to the top of the pass and get the view of Lomanthang. Lowering down from the Pass, we will head towards Lo-Manthang city where we will stay overnight.

    • Altitude: 3,840m.
  • Day 10 Explore Lo-Manthang.

    We will spend a day in Lomanthang before returning back. There are lots to explore in Lomanthang. NamgyalGompa and Tingkhar are some of the places of interest in Lomanthang. NamgyalGompais not only a monastery but it also functions as a local court. Tingkhar is the final village that exists to the northwest of Lomanthang. We can also visit the 4-storey palace while ChampaLakhang and ThungchenGompa are other highlights.

  • Day 11 Trek to Drakmar.

    This is the day when our return trip from Upper Mustang begins. LeavingLomanthang, we will reach Gyakar. There lies GharGompa inGyakar which is believed to be more than 1200 years old. We will visit GharGompa and continue to walk to Drakmar. Stay overnight at Drakmar.

  • Day 12 Trek to Geiling.

    Leaving Drakmar, we will take about 4-5 hours of walk to Geiling. The heavy wind blows in Geiling in the afternoon in Geiling. We will make the necessary arrangement for an overnight stay before exploring the area in the evening.

  • Day 13 Trek to Chuksang.

    There will be a sharp drop in altitude from Geiling onwards which is why trekking is going to be pleasant. Leaving Geiling, we will descend to Kaligandaki River Valley. The trail crisscrosses through many ancient villages before taking us to Chuksang. Stay overnight at Chuksang.

    • Altitude: 3,050m.
  • Day 14 Trek to Jomsom.

    The path from Chuksangcontinues to EkaleBhatti. Previously, there used to be only one teahouse which is why it was named Eklebhatti but you will find 4 teahouses in the area these days. After walking for a couple of hours from Eklebhatti, we will reach Jomsom. This is the headquarters of Mustang. We will stay overnight at Jomsom.

  • Day 15 Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara.

    Jomsom is a windy city. The heavy wind blows each day in the afternoon. So, we will catch the morning flight from Jomsom to Pokhara. Enjoy the flight between Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Mountains. We will descend to the Airport in Pokhara. We will drive to the hotel for overnight stay.

  • Day 16 Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu.

    After taking lunch in Pokhara, we will follow Prithvi Highway back to Kathmandu from where you will be transferred to the hotel. Spend your free time as you like. Stay overnight in a hotel.

  • Day 17 Free day in Kathmandu.

    Enjoy your free time. Take rest and stretch your aching muscles. You can also join our additional sightseeing tour in Kathmandu. The evening is the best time to go for shopping in the cobbled street of Thamel. Curio goods, painting, and Nepali handicrafts are perfect gift items to take home. Stay overnight in the hotel.

  • Day 18 Departure.

    You will be transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport three hours before your scheduled flight. Have a safe journey. We hope to see you soon.
